We suggest 3 classes a week.
The more often you come to class, the quicker you’ll experience results. We recommend beginners practicing at least 3 times per week. A daily practice over the course of 30 days will give you a renewed body, a refreshed mind and a new outlook on life. We see proof of this time and again. Below you’ll find helpful suggestions on weekly classes based on your goals and experience with yoga.
Yoga is a system of postures, breathing and meditation for balancing the body, mind and spirit. Most new students feel a little intimidated when trying yoga for the first time. But there’s nothing to be nervous about. The new yoga student and beginning yoga student will find our staff warm and welcoming. We are known for our hospitality and going above and beyond to help you feel at home. You’ll feel right at home in no time!
We ask new yoga students to Savannah Yoga Center to complete a new student form digitally above or in person at the studio. Please let us know on the form if you are a beginner to yoga!

FAQ
Wear comfortably fitting but stretchy clothes (long shorts or stretchy pants work well for men). If you don’t have a yoga mat or yoga props, we sell starter mats and gently used props, blankets, straps and more in our amazing shop! Some people like to bring a hand towel to wipe away sweat. We sell glass bottles of water in our shop. You are also welcome to bring your own pre-filled water bottle.
Please read our class descriptions and teacher bios to make sure you choose the class and/or teacher most suited to your needs at this time. Don’t take class on a full stomach. If needed, eat a light snack before class, but nothing too heavy.
We start classes on time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your class. Arriving early ensures a stress-free and relaxed first class. The studio is always open 30 minutes before class starts and many students arrive a little early to enjoy some shopping in our shop Ordinary Magic and/or some quiet time in the yoga room.
If you have health conditions or are pregnant, please us at [email protected] and let us know or show up 15 minutes before the class starts to share in private, your concerns and condition. All of our teachers are excited to meet you and help you reach your goals.
It’s called a yoga practice, not a yoga perfect. It is not about doing the posture perfectly. No one is going to judge you or criticize you. If you give your best effort, you’ll receive the same therapeutic benefits as someone with a high degree of flexibility. As you continue to practice, your balance and strength will grow.
Listen to your body. The teacher may occasionally offer suggestions or adjustments that will carry you deeper into a pose. The intention or theme of the class is left up to the individual teacher.
